Getting more bang for your headlight bucks is important. Our team at Livermore Lincoln completely understands. We like economy, long lifespans and optimal brightness when it comes to headlights, which brings us to our question. Which is better: projector or reflector headlights?

It's a Wonderful Tie

Every type of headlight assembly has its pros. The same is true of projector and reflector headlights. It isn't the projection or the reflection that determines the brightness. It's the type of light the assembly contains. LED is fairly common these days. It's efficient, extra-bright and lasts years and years. Here's how projector and reflector differ.

Projector Headlights

Projector headlights include an encased bulb surrounded by mirrors. The assembly also contains a lens that intensifies, focuses and "projects" the bulb's emitted lights. That's why projector headlights resemble the light of large flashlights cast onto the road ahead of you.

Reflector Headlights

Similarly, reflector headlights contain an encased bulb surrounded by mirrors. The position of the mirrors reflects the light into the outside world, creating a beam that covers wide lateral and vertical area with minimal light scatter.
